STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Dubbed "A Mother of a Shopping Event," a fundraiser to benefit

, a Hurricane Sandy relief organization, will feature an array of items -- everything from designer handbags to costume jewelry -- perfect for Mother's Day gifts.

The event, to be held Wednesday at Bella Mama Rose in Elm Park from 6 to 10 p.m.,

will feature such items as custom soaps and candles, flowers, designer and leather handbags, clothing, custom swimwear from Carla's Closet, items from Big Ang's Secret, a store owned by Angela Raiola of VHI's "Mob Wives," and gift certificates to a variety of retail venues, including 5-borough Power Yoga.

"This gives people the opportunity to get out and shop for their wives or mothers," said Karen Torrone, co-founder of Guyon Rescue, and owner of 5-Borough Power Yoga.

In addition, a prototype for a cookbook -- entitled "A Dash of Resilience, a Pinch of Compassion and a Cup of Love: A Collection of Recipes from Guyon Rescue," will be showcased at the event.

"This book will include recipes from the founders and volunteers of Guyon Rescue, as well as from many Sandy victims," said Ms. Torrone, who noted the book was put together by herself and Carla Murino, a Guyon Rescue volunteer and owner of Carla's Closet.

A $10 entry fee will be collected from patrons at the shopping event. The fee will be waived for those who choose to dine at the restaurant. There will be 50/50 and silent auction raffles for items donated by the vendors.

The proceeds will be used to help Guyon Rescue continue its relief effort, which includes rebuilding Sandy-ravaged homes in Staten Island.

"The money will go toward rebuilding materials for Hurricane Sandy victims," said Derek Tabacco, co-founder of Guyon Rescue. "We are currently insulating, dry walling and rebuilding homes. We are putting flooring down, installing new doors, replacing bathroom fixtures and helping homeowners get appliances."
